See the venturi of the hourglass,
the passing, and what did pass.
Colourant composition determines
those colours that come to be.
The spectrum of refracted shades
picked out by the light plectrum.

Nickel a forget-me-not agent
firing a time-twisted smoked spiral.
Lead crystal initiates a benevolent
violet vector to elevate the mind.
Bathing, bending, drawing out mauve,
Manganese teases Egyptian purple.

With a reddish blue Barium Oxide
calls like an echo blended for you.
A stunning colorant, Cobalt,
not for the weak nor the intolerant,
with rich blues in potash baking,
forsaking others but not the truth.

Copper produces turquoise tones
of light touching the feral zones.
Eyes now famous, Egyptian blue
reflecting cyan light with purpose.
Copper blues are easier to produce
and like your smile readily seduce.

Feathered flickering light licks the vial
as Uranium soars up as a deep red stick.
Lead sews a ruby flush to light the glass,
and reflections from Gold glow Cranberry.
Selenium agents range pink against red,
Selenide screams with nothing said.

Reduced Iron rinsed with Chromium delivers
dark green, like the petals of a frosted flower.
Ferrous Iron Oxide plants a bluish-green tint,
is the girl in the looking glass sending a hint?
Copper Cobalt compounds drive aquamarine,
maybe you can tempt her into your dream?

Uranium surrenders a vaseline glass,
translucent with a faint hint as we pass.
Cadmium Sulphides create deeper yellows
as if from summer morning meadows.
Potassium Chromate from within imparts

Iron Sulphides draws out a dark amber,
migrating to orange and a rouge palour.

yellow fades dipping to a spiked scarlet,
